I think I found the cause.

And here I am, getting ready to set up Zoom for all of my trumpet lessons....

Thankfully it worked for me when I needed it this afternoon for a press event. We had to bring doctors out to remind people that clinical trials are good and that good science is better than last ditch policy to lay blame and act like a hero. Because this is the dumb world we live in.

Pfffft you belie ve in doctors????

I know most of them can barely even retweet but despite that, I think they have their moments.

Let me know when they’re on tiktok, then we can talk.

Actually it’s because of this girl

Everyone in 8th grade science class: why do we have to learn this? when will I ever need this in life?
The world to every adult who slept in 8th grade science class: this, this is when you need to know this stuff.

It actually worked all day for me. There were a couple glitches this morning, but nothing too bad.

Keep control of your metronome.

Teaching trumpet lessons remotely sucks.

I’d stop everything and pay attention to her too.

Life with a piecemeal infrastructure.

I was hoping for a longer outage, so that both school and work would be affected.

Good. My university sent out emails saying login in through the zoom app worked better than through the university site. I don’t know why, but everything is fine now.
My daughter had one of her classes through Microsoft Teams, and so avoided the zoom outage.

I appreciate this one the more with each playing. I find the musician as captivating as the music. Samara Ginsberg’s got bars.
Also: mask outbound to Dr. Missus today.
I hope you and yours are well.

I’ll bet. When you have to stay 6 feet away from your screen , it can be hard to see what your student is doing in that little window.

Maybe next time.

I always enjoy this one. Also, see the ten part one EssexTee posted above.
And thanks. We are doing okay. School is online for now, but learning is happening.

I’m so glad we are on Meet instead, I spent my planning period scrolling through various reactions to Zoom being down and laughing.

I was thinking that this could leave a nice opening for Zoom’s competitors, of which there are several.

I got that same message this morning. I had no trouble clicking on the link in my google calendar.

I have a new iMac with all the pixels. It’s like having a jumbotron on my desk. I can practically smell the Oppo shitposts.

Ew, then perhaps you paid too much.

MS just rolled out a teams update which added a bunch of features zoom had that teams didn't. The Enterprise meet upgrades are rolling out in the coming weeks. It will be interesting to see how Zoom responds.

Yes, people are locked into contracts for at least this semester, probably this year, but who knows after that.

Yes, my daughter has some of her classes on Teams, which she says she likes better than Zoom.

Zoom has a crucial feature for me; it allows you to unmute with a keyboard command while teams doesn’t. Other than that, on Teams you can have assignments uploaded, it’s linked to a school email, and you can look around presentations in case you got lost... so I prefer that.

Please think of us and good luck with the hax0ring!

My daughter’s new high school went all in with MS this year. There’s a lot of advantage in the single solution, but the cost is almost always the loss of some desirable feature or other. Nothing’s perfect.

My college is using both... I have no idea why. We’re 20,000-ish students maybe the licenses for so many users were very expensive or something. I know that teams is the new one, and that zoom is the one they’ve been using since March.

I like watching the expressions on her face as she plays. But if you want true synthetic polyphony, then you need this classic:

Yeah, this is going to make answering that question a lot easier for us science teachers out there.

Silver linings, I suppose.
